The Nature Research Center is a new 80,000 sf wing of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. The centerpiece of the project is a large sphere called the Daily Planet, which will be a multi-media space with a 40' high HD projection screen that will link virtual to real nature and provide live programming on breaking science news via WRAL, UNCTV and public radio. It will also be able to transmit programming into schools, hospitals, senior citizens centers and libraries via linked Internet capabilities. Also included will be an aquarium, science investigative labs, TV/Video labs, exhibit space and a full-service kitchen and cafe.
