The North Carolina Museum of Art - is one of the most distinguished museums in the South, completed a major three-year expansion and reopened to the public on April 24, 2010. The Museum is located on a 164-acre park and offers a unique blend of art, architecture, and nature. The centerpiece of the expansion is a new 127,000-square-foot, light filled building. The new building, known as the West Building, contains a new restaurant, retail store, and other visitor amenities. Clad in anodized aluminum panels with large areas of glass, the new building is also environmentally “green.”
